Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Urges Stakeholder Support for Vehicle Scrapping Policy

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari called upon all stakeholders to come forward and support the Vehicle Scrapping policy. Addressing a Stakeholder Consultation in New Delhi today he said it is a win-win situation for all.The Union Minister said the Ministry has undertaken multiple initiatives to build resilient demand for vehicles such as building a world-class network of Highways, Electrification of buses, and mandatory automated fitness testing of vehicles. He said the Auto OEMs should work towards increasing their production capacity and support the nation to become the largest auto industry in the world.

Shri Gadkari emphasized that since the Auto industry is the biggest beneficiary of this policy, they must come forward and support on 3 main pillars of more investment in setting up Automated Testing Stations (ATSs) and Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs), more awareness amongst citizens about the policy benefits through their dealer network and a finalized discount % against certificate of deposit obtained by citizens on scrapping vehicles.

Secretary Shri Anurag Jain encouraged the auto industry to set up scrap centers and automated testing stations across the country. It was emphasized that Vehicle Scrapping Policy is expected to increase auto sales by about 8% and contribute about 0.5% to the country’s GDP and hence, Auto OEMs must extend unconstrained support to the policy.

This stakeholder consultation aimed to seek support from the automobile industry to expedite the implementation of vehicle scrapping policy in the form of investment in vehicle scrapping infrastructure of Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) and Automated Testing Stations (ATSs), generation of awareness among citizens and extension of discounts to vehicle owners for scrapping vehicles at RVSFs. Representatives from all major automotive OEMs (including Tata, Mahindra, Maruti, Kia, Hyundai, etc.), auto dealers and used car aggregators (including Car Dekho, Cars24) attended the event and shared their perspectives on the challenges and actions required to expedite implementation of the vehicle scrapping policy.

Additional Secretary Shri Mahmood Ahmed welcomed the dignitaries and industry participants and highlighted key benefits of V-VMP. This was followed by a presentation on status of V-VMP and support required from auto industry by Director Shri Paresh Goel.

SIAM also presented their views on the incentives for citizens through this policy and good inputs were provided by all other auto industry stakeholders.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) launched the Voluntary Vehicle-Fleet Modernization Program (Vehicle Scrapping Policy) in 2021. This Policy is aimed at creating an ecosystem for phasing out old, unsafe, polluting vehicles and replacing them with newer, safer, and fuel-efficient vehicles.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Chairs MoRTH and NHAI Regional Officers Meeting

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari chaired a review meeting of Regional Officers of MoRTH, NHAI & NHIDCL today in New Delhi. Minister of State Gen(Dr) V K Singh(Retd.) was also present on the occasion.

Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, NHAI Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, NHIDCL MD Shri Mahmood Ahmed, besides senior officials and ROs of MoRTH, NHAI & NHIDCL from across the country are attending the meeting.

Shri Gadkari discussed at length the potential of ‘Build-Operate-Transfer’ (BOT) models, which can maximize financial productivity and enable the department to take on more projects. The Minister emphasized the importance of regular quality monitoring and expediting the execution of ongoing projects.

Addressing the gathering Shri Gadkari said it’s all about embracing innovation to supercharge our economy, reduce logistics costs, foster job creation, and elevate public mobility services to new heights.

Shri Gadkari said in our pursuit of a ‘Self-Reliant India’ and the goal of a $5 trillion economy, one crucial aspect shines through – the need to cut down on logistics costs. To achieve this, building excellent express highways has become a top priority, he added.

The Union Minister emphasised cooperation, coordination and communication among all stakeholders. He said Performance audit alongwith Financial audit is very essential for best results.

In the day long session several issues like road safety, Project Pipeline across different modes (BOT, HAM, EPC), Development of roads in Hilly regions, Quality of roads including development of sustainable roads, Road Operation & Maintenance will be discussed.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Unveils BS 6 Stage II Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari launched the world’s first prototype of the BS 6 Stage II ‘Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle’, developed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor in the presence of  Union Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri , Union Minster Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey , MD & CEO of Toyota Shri Masakazu Yoshimura , MD & CEO of Kirloskar Systems Limited Geetanjali Kirloskar , Ambassador, Diplomats from Japan Embassy, higher officials and advisors in New Delhi today.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Gadkari said Ethanol being an indigenous, eco-friendly, and renewable fuel holds promising prospects for India. He said the emphasis of the Modi Government on ethanol aligns with objectives of attaining energy self-sufficiency, doubling farmers’ income, transitioning them to Urjadata while continuing to support them as Annadata, and positively impacting the environment. He said the day ethanol economy becomes of 2 lakh crores  agricultural growth rate will reach 20% from the current 12%.  Talking about innovations in biofuels Shri Gadkari spoke of refinery in Numaligarh in Asssam of Indian Oil Corporation where bamboo is being used for manufacturing bio ethanol.

Shri Gadkari said this innovative vehicle is based on the Innova Hycross and is engineered to adhere to India’s stricter emission standards, marking it as the first-ever BS 6 (Stage II) Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle prototype globally. He said the forthcoming stages for this prototype encompass meticulous refinement, homologation, and certification processes.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Congratulates ISRO on Celestial Achievement

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari  congratulates ISRO for  carving India’s illustrious chapter in celestial history.

In a series of tweets Shri Gadkari said Heartfelt congratulations to the brilliant minds at ISRO, especially Chairman Shri S Somanath, Project Director Shri P Veeramuthuvel, and Mission Director Shri Mohana Kumar, for the flawless lunar landing of Chandrayaan-3.

The Union Minister said this achievement makes India the first country in the world to land on the south pole of the moon. He said  unwavering dedication, meticulous planning, and exceptional teamwork have once again showcased India’s prowess in space exploration.

Many congratulations to our fellow citizens of India on this historic achievement, a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.

Nitin Gadkari Lays Foundation Stone of 3 NH Projects in Tirupati Andhra Pradesh

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for 3 NH Projects in the presence at Tirupati ,Andhra Pradesh today.

The first undertaking is the Naidupate-Turpu Kanupur Section of NH-71, spanning 35 Km and requiring an investment of ₹1,399 Crore. The second project is the Chillakuru Cross-Krishnapatnam Port South Gate Section via Turpu Kanupur on NH-516W, covering a distance of 36 Km and valued at ₹909 Crore. Lastly, the Thamminapatnam-Narikellapalle Section involves an extension of the Dedicated Port Road from Eupuru to Krishnapatnam Port on NH-516W and NH-67, length of 16 Km and valued at ₹610 Crore.

Shri Gadkari said these endeavors aim to provide seamless and secure connectivity to Krishnapatnam Port, enabling faster accessibility to National Master Plan Nodes, Industrial Nodes, and SEZ at Nellore. Additionally, they will enhance the safety and convenience of devotees traveling to religious destinations such as the Shri Balaji Temple in Tirupati and the Shri Shiva Temple in Srikalahasti. He said under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi  we remain fully committed to ensuring swift, seamless, and energy-efficient mobility across the entire nation.

Shri Gadkari said  these projects will bolster tourism by establishing connections to popular attractions like the Nelapatu Bird Sanctuary and SHAR at Sriharikota. Importantly, they are also expected to generate substantial employment opportunities.

NHAI Planning to Implement Highways Fencing for Cattle Safety

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in a series of tweets said we are planning to implement the Bahu Balli Cattle Fence along highways in India to prevent cattle from crossing the road and causing dangerous accidents that result in the loss of human life.

Shri Gadkari said the fence will be 1.20 meters high and will be installed on section 23 of NH-30 as a comprehensive solution. He said this installation will serve as a demonstration before the esteemed visit of Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, to Chhattisgarh.

The Minister said the cattle fence, constructed using bamboo, offers a fully effective and environmentally friendly solution. He said the bamboo is treated with creosote oil and coated with HDPE, making it a stronger alternative to steel. The fence has a fire rating of Class 1, ensuring safety, and aligns with the principles of Aatmanirbhar Bharat which aims to make all highways sustainable and minimize harm to wildlife and cattle, he added.

Nitin Gadkari Lays Foundation Stone of 11 NH Projects Worth Rs 5600 Crore in Rajasthan

Four national highway projects with a total length of 219 km and costing Rs 3,775 crore were inaugurated today in Rajasthan. This 6-laning project from Kishangarh to Gulbapura section on National Highway 48 will accelerate the economic and social development of Ajmer and Bhilwara districts. The 6-laning of Gulabpura to Chittorgarh section will strengthen the mutual connectivity of Udaipur, Jaipur and Kota regions of Bhilwara and Chittorgarh districts. The construction of 4-lane ROB on National Highway 162A at Fatehnagar will solve the problem of traffic jam at railway crossing.

Construction of high level bridge on Chambal river in Mandrayal under CRIF was inaugurated today. With the construction of this bridge connectivity will be maintained between Mandrayal, Karauli in Rajasthan and Sabalgarh in Madhya Pradesh.

Foundation stone of 7 projects costing Rs 1850 crore and total length of 221 km was also laid today. These projects will provide direct connectivity from the famous religious place Nathdwara to Udaipur airport. The construction of Pratapgarh bypass will reduce the traffic pressure inside the city. With the construction of the road from Raas to Biaora, the vehicles going towards Bhilwara will be facilitated. Tribal areas of Dungarpur, Udaipur and Banswara region will get better connectivity. With the construction of bypass in Sangwara and Garhi, the distance of Dungarpur-Banswara will be reduced by 10 km. Thirteen animal underpasses will be constructed in Todgarh Wildlife Sanctuary on the Beawar-Gomti road for protection of wildlife .

In Rajasthan, approval of 74 projects under CRF at a cost of 2250 crores was also announced during this program. The work on these projects will start soon.
